Trait Indicators in handwriting

Graphology Course

Stubbornness in the writer

In the image above, we can see how the trait of stubbornness is revealed in the writing; stubbornness indicates hostility and resistance to outside pressure. A stubborn person will swear black is white rather than admit that he is wrong. Stubbornness is shown in the letters ‘t’ and ‘d’. The strokes are braced, similar to a tented structure. When stubbornness is seen in t's, the writer refuses to shelve his plans and intentions. When stubbornness is seen in d's, the writer refuses to change anything to do with his character that others may see as problematic.

Desire for attention

This writer wishes to attract the notice of others. Acceptance is craved because it helps to reduce feelings of insecurity. All sorts of tactics will be used to play to the gallery.

The writer lacks spontaneity

The writing moves slowly across the page due to frequent stops and starts. The writing is also angular with frequent changes in direction, which break the overall flow. The writer lacks spontaneity.

Recovers from a setback

Writing with a concave baseline reflects someone who, after an initial setback, recovers their energy or enthusiasm and makes a successful come-back.

The writer keeps their distance

Think of the way your handwriting slants in terms of body language - if we feel uneasy about getting too close, we are likely to lean away from the other person we are talking to, especially if we don’t know them that well. Generally speaking we want to keep the other person at arm’s length.

Have you ever wondered why you have a unique and easily recognised style of writing? It is because every stroke of your pen/biro reflects your mood and character - the inner feelings, attitudes, temperament, aptitudes and personal qualities that we call personality.

The Cambridge School of Graphology offers two correspondence/distance learning courses for anyone who is interested in studying handwriting analysis. The courses have been specifically designed for home study. It is a different type of learning from traditional classroom study and is accessible to all adults with an interest in graphology. You can study handwriting analysis with no commitment to attend formal classes. You control and organise your time according to the way it suits you to learn. This means that you make the decisions as to how much time you devote to your studies and how quickly you complete the course(s).

The advantages are that you can:

  1. Study these courses in your own home
  2. Fit them around your other commitments
  3. Enrol any time - there are no fixed start dates
  4. Have unlimited contact with a friendly personal tutor
  5. Contact your tutor by email, telephone or snail mail
  6. Work through these courses at your own pace
  7. Ask questions and get help with problems as they arise
  8. Be regularly assessed on your progress
Graphology Course

Positive and negative aspects are to be found in all forms of learning and this type of distance learning / correspondence course is no exception. It would be unfair to say there are no disadvantages whatsoever. You will need a great deal of motivation and self-discipline because there is no-one to nag or pressurise you to move on from one assignment to the next, although your tutor is there to encourage you along your journey of self-discovery. It is, in the end, solely your responsibility to complete the course(s). However, we feel it should not pose too many obstacles since analysing handwriting is such an absorbing interest. Once you get your teeth into it, there is no letting go.

Some people might feel this type of course is not for them as it is a solitary occupation but for the majority of students, it is the freedom to study when it suits, that they like.

No prior knowledge of graphology is required for either the Foundation Course or the Advanced Diploma Course. They are both created with the complete novice in mind. All you need is an enquiring mind and an interest in learning about the complexities of human nature. No two people are exactly the same and no two handwritings are exactly the same. Analysing personality from handwriting is an intricate procedure.

As well as introducing you to the principles of graphology, both courses in their own way will provide you with an insight into the underlying influences that shape your feelings, attitudes and behaviour. In addition, it will help you to perceive others in quite a different way.
